French photographer Brigitte Lacombe is known for her influential and revelatory portraiture.
Lacombe is currently at work on a retrospective exhibition commissioned by Qatar Museums, scheduled to open in Fall 2027.
For four decades, she has created iconic and intimate photographs of many of the world's most celebrated artists, actors, directors, politicians, and intellectuals.
In 2023, her work was exhibited in "Face to Face: Portraits of Artists" alongside work by Tacita Dean and Catherine Opie at the International Center for Photography in New York.
As a special photographer at the invitation of the directors, Lacombe has documented the film sets of Martin Scorsese for the last 25 years. She has also photographed the film sets of Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wes Anderson, Lynne Ramsay, Quentin Tarantino, Spike Jonze, Steven Spielberg, and others.
Lacombe has worked on campaigns for Dior, Prada, Miu Miu, Chanel, Hermès, and others.
In 2019, filmmaker Lynne Ramsay directed a documentary on Lacombe titled "Brigitte" for Miu Miu Women's Tales, a Miuccia Prada-led initiative, which has showcased films written and directed by female filmmakers over the last 15 years.
She has collaborated with the Doha Film Institute since the organization was founded in 2010.
Lacombe has published several monographs, including "Lacombe: Cinema/Theater" and "Lacombe: Anima/Persona".
She has traveled the world extensively for her work, and currently resides in New York City and Paris.
